

Along with being the founding Pastor of Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord Rev.
James R. Otterness has been teaching a half hour bible study on local ABC, CBS, NBC
television every Sunday for over thirty years. He has also appeared on Prime Time
Christian Broadcasting which covers West Texas, New Mexico and Las Vegas. The bible
studies consist of twenty-




Rev. Otterness has also written six inductive bible studies on the books of Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, Phillipians, Colossians, 1 Thesalonians, 1 John, James, and Revelation. These bible studies list an inductive outline of the scripture on the left facing page and an interpretation of the scripture on the right facing page. They are especially good for those who want to teach the meaning of the scripture or would like a better understanding of the written word.
Before becoming a pastor, Rev. Otterness served as a navy pilot in World War II. After the war, he received his degree in electrical engineering from South Dakota State College and then began work for General Electric. His pastor at Iowa State thought Otterness had missed his calling. After working one year at GE, Otterness left his job at GE and began seminary at Luther Seminary in St. Paul.

The "Simple Secrets of the Kingdom" television show can be seen in many cities around the country. In the Odessa/Midland area it can be seen on channel 42 (on most systems) on Thursday mornings at 11:00 a.m. In March 2004 it was added to a AIBTV in Atlanta, GA.
